Roundtable Discussions on “Regional Developments and the Prospects of the ‘Crossroads of Peace’ Initiative” Concluded
4 m. | 2026-05-20The results of a roundtable discussion on “Regional Developments and the Prospects of the ‘Crossroads of Peace’ Initiative” organized by the Orbeli Center of the Information and Public Relations Center were summarized in Yerevan. It brought together representatives from government, expert and international circles to discuss key issues related to regional integration, economic development and Armenia’s strategic priorities.

Mikayel Yalanuzyan, coordinator of the Orbeli Analytical Center, made a welcoming speech. Arman Yeghoyan, Chair of the Standing Committee on European Integration of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, and Edgar Zakaryan, Deputy Minister of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, also made welcoming speeches, emphasizing regional infrastructure programs and, in particular, the ‘Crossroads of Peace’ project’s importance for Armenia’s economic and political development.

The first panel discussion was devoted to Armenia’s policy on participation in international transport projects as a foundation for economic stability and its priorities. The speakers discussed the strategic importance of the ‘Crossroads of Peace’ initiative, the prospects for developing regional transport and logistics infrastructure, as well as the energy component and opportunities for inclusive economic growth.

The memorandum of understanding signing ceremony between the Orbeli Analytical Center and the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research also took place within the framework of the discussion, marking an important step toward deepening bilateral cooperation.

During the second panel discussion, the focus was on the challenges and prospects for developing the transport system within the framework of the ‘Crossroads of Peace’ project. Participants discussed the dynamics of Armenia’s foreign trade turnover, the current state of the transport system from a business perspective, and opportunities for regional cooperation, particularly in the context of connectivity with Iran and Georgia.

The third panel discussion, held in the afternoon, focused on diversifying Armenia’s foreign and economic policy amid a changing world order. The speakers presented the global and regional challenges, the role of the ‘Crossroads of Peace’ project in ensuring regional stability, as well as the dynamics of freight flows and the prospects for developing alternative routes.
